chicago. bird sanctuary. silence. november. morning.

I had a wonderful morning with Jenn, Kyle and son Cole on Saturday morning in Chicago a few weeks ago.  It was (once again) an unseasonably warm November day and the four of us had a great time exploring the Chicago Bird Sanctuary near the Montrose Harbor along the Chicago lakefront.

The Bird Sanctuary is one of those hidden gems within a city full of noise, horns and skyscrapers--it's nearly silent, often totally abandoned, and flanked on three sides by Lake Michigan.  We found some great spots throughout the sanctuary and then wandered out to the beach.

If I didn't know any better, I could have sworn we were in Northern Michigan with the sky and the colors of the lakefront--which led us to a great conversation about just how awesome Northern Michigan is and how they spend lots of time in Empire at Kyle's family home.  By the end of the shoot we had made a plan to meet up at some point this summer for some beers on the beach in the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and captured some awesome shots.  Thanks so much, Jenn, Kyle and Cole!
