When we were up in Traverse City last week, Ian and I had an opportunity to sit down with a great couple, Pam and Matthew and have dinner together. Pam and Matthew are getting married at the Port Oneida Schoolhouse in the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore in July. Matthew got in touch with me a couple of months ago about wedding photography and when we spoke on the phone and he shared the details of their day, I knew I HAD to photograph this wedding. He kept using words like "family", "intimate", "community" to describe their vision--this is EXACTLY the type of work I'm looking to do--hang out with totally chill, totally down to Earth couples and document their wedding day. We met at a fabulous little hole in the wall in Travese called Spaghetti Jim's. At first I was a bit skeptical, but when we walked in and I realized that diner's were basically sitting in the kitchen? Well, I was totally smitten. It was a super enjoyable night of great conversation and great food. Matthew and Pam are exactly the type of couple that make this business fun and enjoyable--they've got a unique wedding vision that hasn't taken over their lives. They have put their marriage and their love at the forefront of their planning and that is critical. Ian and I both walked out feeling really excited to be part of their day and also grateful to have spent an evening with such a fun and relaxed couple. Thanks so much Pam and Matthew for the great night and looking forward to July!
