4th of July is here! I'm not sure why I love this holiday so much--I'm not particularly patriotic (I've been known to let a vintage 48 star American flag touch the ground during a family photo shoot....maybe this happened about 4 hours ago...just sayin'), but the 4th of July is probably my favorite holiday. I think it harkens back to the days of celebrating at Watassa with my friends from the barn--my dad let us use the house for a few days to light off fireworks, tube down the river, visit Gerri's Nearly New and enjoy the beauty of Northern Michigan. To me 4th of July just means summertime, grilling, warm weather and all things wonderful and I'm looking forward to a little bit of downtime this weekend.
This week has been a super busy one for me and next week is as well. We're deep into gutting the house up in Empire (3 drop ceilings are out! Exposed wood rafters are here!) and have a couple of friends coming up this afternoon for a few days.
I'm also on call for a BIRTH that I've been asked to photograph in lower Michigan, so I am nervously anticipating this photo shoot, including sleeping with my ringer on, and having a "baby bag" packed with camera gear and waiting by the door to the Airstream in the event I have to leave in the middle of the night for the shoot! This is something I've been looking forward to for a few months now and I can't believe it's finally here (I'm sure the parents feel that even more than I do!)
On Tuesday I'm so excited for the launch of my new website and my new business name, plus a total rebrand will be up and I am planning to reveal all of this on A Practical Wedding on Tuesday--that's HUGE and something I've also been anticipating and working so hard on for the past few months. Lots and lots going on in the next few days--the blog might be quiet, but that doesn't mean I'm not working away.
Have a fantastic 4th of July weekend and enjoy some good old Americana fun!
