As of 10 minutes ago, Ian and I officially own this lovely little farmhouse in Empire, MI on the Leelanau Peninsula!
This farmhouse sits on a few acres of land along M22, but the best part of it is that it is surrounded by Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore--the house is literally in the National Park, and, as a result, the land around it won't ever be developed. Finding and purchasing this place has been a labor of love. We started looking for a property a couple years ago and over the course of this search found out what a true joy and a terrifying journey purchasing a home can be. I'm sure it will be with great amounts of gratitude that our agent closes this deal tomorrow, no longer being required to show us foreclose property after foreclosed property, mold infestation after sinking foundation after mineral rights refusal.
Stay tuned for a blog dedicated soley to the adventures and misadventures that come with rehabbing a house built in 1900 from 5.5 hours away! In the meantime, The paperwork is signed, the title is transferred, the deed is in our name--by golly, we're homeowners!
