Jessica and Jay are two scientists who live in Illinois, but wanted a unique and beautiful wedding. When they got in touch with me about throwing them a Pop Up wedding, I knew the perfect location--the Sleeping Bear Dunes in Northern Michigan's gorgeous Leelanau County. They are both distance runners and were up for an adventure--The spot I suggested required about a 1/4 mile hike on the part of them and their 10 guests, but the views made all the sand worth it in the end. When we reached the top of the dunes, everyone was amazed at the sight of the North and South Manitou Islands, Lake Michigan, Glen Lake and miles of Northern Michigan forests that surrounded us. Jessica and Jay wanted to elope right as the sun was setting, and this evening in June did not disappoint. After a heartfelt ceremony which they wrote themselves, we wandered into the abandoned "Ghost Forest" nearby, filled with ancient trees and dunes of a bygone era. After their ceremony and photos, Jessica and Jay headed to Traverse City, Michigan to meet up with their families for an intimate dinner. This entire evening was one of the most beautiful and lovely weddings we have had the honor to photograph--thank you so much to Jessica and Jay and their adventurous families!
PS--Check out Jay's face at their first look--I mean, how amazing?
