If you follow me on Instagram, you already know I went all #equality on a woman at Joann's Fabrics last week when she made a disparaging comment regarding same-sex marriage and equality for our LGBTQ brothers and sisters. As upsetting as this incident was to me, it also acted as a swift kick in the pants and a wake up call that I needed to stop talking and start doing.
See, I have been wanting to throw a same-sex specific Pop Up wedding event for awhile now and have been feeling out those Midwestern waters, but after my interacting with this employee and hearing her use the words "disgusting", "violation," and "horrible" to describe her views on marriage equality, I think it's imperative I move forward.
I am over the moon to announce Equality Pop Up on September 12 and 13 in Leelanau County. Equality Pop Up will be tailored specifically for same sex couples looking to make their marriage rights shine. We are still waiting, as of this post, for the SCOTUS decision regarding same sex marriage legality, but either way, I think it's important to put out there that same sex couples deserve awesome Pop Up weddings just like anyone else. ANNNDD, because I feel so passionately about this, I am offering a discounted rate of $1500 total for the entire Pop Up and also donating 10% of the proceeds from each Pop Up to the Freedom to Marry organization. Of course, we would love to marry straight couples during this time too and no one will be turned away, but I hope to see some LGBTQ couples make the trip to Northern Michigan!
There are SO many amazing reasons to book a Pop Up wedding--here are just a few quotations from our Pop Up couples from last weekend:
"This was our perfect wedding...working with you was the best wedding planning anyone could ever ask for. We left feeling like we had met friends!"
"Thank you SO much. The entire Pop Up was way more than we ever could have hoped for. Thank you, thank you, thank you!"
"Ahhh!!! All the feels! We had such a blast and you made it all possible (and seriously, zero stress--who can say that about their wedding? Oh wait, I can!!)"
Please fill out the form below if you're interested in being part of Equality Pop Up with us--we can only accept 8 couples total, so do not delay!
