When you get to photograph a wedding of two people who are so right for each other and so in love with one another AND they serve you rock solid pork tacos to go with the experience AND there is pie from Northern Michigan because the bride and her family love Northern Michigan as much as you do...well, all is right in the world.
Such was the case with Erin and Elliot...who are absolutely fantastic. Ian and I had a blast spending the day with them as they said their vows at Kitchen Chicago. As they prepared for their First Look, I found myself choked up as Elliot made his way upstairs to see Erin for the first time. It's difficult to show in a photograph, but he straight up stopped in his tracks when he came up the stairs and saw her standing waiting for him--and then he gasped. Which makes total sense because Erin looked amazing (also, her dress....gorgeous, right? Yeah, she found it like a week before the wedding after her original one didn't work out....I'd say that dress #2 was a huge hit). She completely rocked her wedding day attire with accents of blue, a fantastic vintage inspired frock, and custom made Chuck Taylor shoes.
There were so many personal touches and little details that Erin and Elliot thought of for their day, starting with the customized Chuck Taylor shoes they both wore boasting their wedding date--plus all the bridal party had their own Chuck's....a myriad of blue awesomeness. After the personal ceremony officiated by Erin's cousin, (which included a pretty rock solid nod to the importance of recognizing ALL marriages, included same sex couples--well done Erin and Elliot), the couple danced the night away with family and friends, serving some of the best Mexican food I've ever seen, and cut into pies from Erin's Northern Michigan favorite bakery. All the serving dishes and china was thrifted by Erin and Elliot over the past year and Elliot personally folded all 1000 Japanese origami cranes that sat throughout the venue.
Everything about this night was wonderful and a huge high five and congratulations to Erin and Elliot for tying the knot, making it legal, and having a fantastic party all at the same time--thank you both so much for being such an absolute delight to work with on your wedding day!
