northern michigan spring break

As a teacher, I sort of live for Spring Break. It provides that totally necessary last minute burst of energy to get through to the end of the school year which this year does not happen until....wait for it...June 24!  I know, can you believe it? I'm still not sure if it's legal to hold kids until a week before the 4th of July, but hey, who am I to argue with Rahm Emmanuel?

At any rate, usually Ian and I take a fabulous Spring Break trip to somewhere hot with endless rum drinks arriving from attractive men, but alas, this year, after our plethora of travel from December through February, the pocketbook was feeling a bit light and we opted to stay in Michigan.  Good thing we did as we were called in to emergency photograph a wedding after the photographer got stuck in Denver (that post coming later this week)!  Thus, after a whirlwind Saturday of photography, off we went to Northern Michigan to check out our farmhouse, meet with a couple whose wedding we are photographing in July and generally have some quality time together.  It was a great respite and a wonderful way to recharge for the end of the school year push.
