Two of my best friends got a baby! I say "got" because they adopted little Uriah from The Cradle in Evanston, IL. I've been so fortunate to have watched Chad and Baron experience this adoption process from start to finish and couldn't be happier to see Uriah become a member of their already adorable family. Baron and Chad were able to be in the delivery room and after he arrived on February 26, it was sort of an "Oh crap, now what?" moment----after all, most folks have 9 months to prepare all the details and necessities for a baby----these two new dads had only a few days! They needed a shower STAT. That's when Becky and I jumped into shower planning mode. Both dads really wanted to ensure all their family and friends who had been so critical in their adoption process could be part of this special day, and they also had the great idea of making their shower more of an open house feel--folks could come and go, Uriah would be in attendance and everyone could meet their new little. We hosted the shower at a local restaurant, just down the street from the dads' home. Lots of good friends and family turned out to welcome the newest addition and the atmosphere was support, joy and adoration. Both Baron and Chad are big fans of FUN (the feeling, not the band) and they didn't want to spend a lot of time sitting around and playing shower games--they wanted a shower to reflect their personalities--something a little off-beat, a little different and filled with a lot of fun. Their vision coupled with a great guest list and the makeshift photo booth which made an appearance, all in all created a very successful day of baby love! I am so excited to watch this little one grow up and am so honored to be part of his life----eeeeh!! Congratulations times 10,000 to Baron and Chad!
