Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend—mine was BUSY, but fabulous. In case you’re not yet following me on Instagram, then you probably didn’t see my Michigan weekend explode in your feed. Well, never fear, I am blogging it today.
This past weekend Ian and I jumped in the car early Saturday morning and headed 2 hours North to Empire and then onto the Old Mission Peninsula, where we had the pleasure of photographing Erika and Nate’s very small and very intimate wedding at a tiny chapel in the woods (sneak peek coming tomorrow and guys, this one was so lovely!).
Sunday we slept in and then we spent the day exploring and reveling in our total love for our home state of Michigan. One of the best parts of the day was taking the paddleboard down to the Empire beach and paddleboarding on a virtually abandoned, glass flat Lake Michigan all morning. I even had a huge salmon jump in the water about 2 feet off the front of the board! Spending the day on the silent lake was just what the doctored ordered after what has been a super hectic and busy few weeks for both of us. The rest of the day we explored all over Leelanau and Benzie--It was a great day and not only did we see some great things, but it reminded me of how grateful I am to be married to someone who has an itch to explore just as much as I do. Below are a few of the shots from around our spot in Empire as well as trolling South on M22 as we made our way back to Grand Haven. Enjoy!
